Description

Description

Interleukin-10 (IL-10) is an anti-inflammatory cytokine predominantly produced by monocytes and, to a lesser extent, by lymphocytes. It plays a crucial role in inducing regulatory T cells (Tregs) in vitro and is characteristically associated with CD4+ Treg lymphocytes. IL-10 inhibits the proliferation of CD4+ T cells, including Th1 and Th2 subsets, and suppresses the cytotoxic functions of cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Beyond monocytes and lymphocytes, IL-10 is produced by various cell types, such as T-cells, macrophages, and mast cells.
