Description

Description

CD40 Ligand, also known as CD40L, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. It is primarily expressed on activated CD4+ T cells, but can also be found on a small proportion of CD8+ T cells, platelets, B cells, basophils, eosinophils, NK cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, and smooth muscle cells. CD40L is implicated in various inflammatory diseases, including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus. Elevated levels of CD40L are associated with cardiovascular events and autoimmune diseases.
