Applications

Fumarate hydratase inhibitor

Functions

A pro-drug inhibitor of fumarate hydratase, an important enzyme in the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle.  This cell permeable compound is converted to the active carboxylic acid by intracellular esterases (Ki = 4.5 µM for free acid).  The ethyl ester displayed cell-growth inhibitory activity against several cancer lines under nutrient (glucose) deprived conditions with an average IC₅₀ = 2.2 µM.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (25 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO may be stored at -20°C for up to 3 months.
