Description

Aldehyde Dehydrogenases (ALDHs) are a superfamily of NAD+- or NADP+-dependent enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of aldehydes to their corresponding carboxylic acids. ALDH enzymes are central to aldehyde detoxification, alcohol metabolism, and oxidative stress mitigation, and their dysfunction or genetic variants contribute to a wide array of hepatic, cardiovascular, neurological, diabetes and oncologic diseases. ALDH2 deficiency increases oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation, leading to amyloid-beta accumulation, tau hyperphosphorylation, and neuronal loss.

The Tribio™ Aldehyde Dehydrogenases Activity Assay Kit utilizes a coupled dehydrogenase reaction that converts a chromophore into a colored formazan product, which is spectrophotometrically measured at an optical density (OD) of 460 nm. The intensity of the generated signal is directly proportional to the NAD(P)H content. This kit provides the easiest and most accurate approach to quantifying ALDH activity across a wide variety of biological samples.
