The Ribospin™ vRD is designed for the isolation of RNA and DNA from a variety of samples and mediums including cell-free fluid, cell culture supernatant, plasma, serum, swabs, urine, and even virus-infected samples. The procedure for using Ribospin™ vRD consists of utilizing glass fiber membrane technology to allow for the fastest and most convenient isolation of high purity RNA and DNA. This contrasts with the conventional methods of alcohol precipitation or phenol/chloroform extraction. The Ribospin™ vRD buffer system utilizes a mix of lysis and binding buffers to provide effective binding conditions for RNA and DNA while allowing for impurities to be washed away by two different wash buffers. The final stage of the procedure consists of pure RNA and DNA being eluted by nuclease-free water with the entire procedure being carried out to completion in only 20 minutes. The final eluate is suitable for use in PCR, RT-PCR, as well as many other downstream applications without the need for further manipulation.
