MAO-B inhibitor; Neuroprotective

Functions

Potent, irreversible monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor selective for MAO-B (IC50=4.43 nM) over MAO-A (IC50=412 nM). Parkinson’s disease therapeutic. Displays neuroprotective and neurorestorative properties in a Parkinson’s disease zebrafish model. Prevents α-synuclein-induced dopaminergic neuronal death and rescues TrkB neurotrophic signaling. Enhances BDNF levels and is neuroprotective in Parkinson’s disease models.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 50 mg/ml), in Water (up to 50 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 30 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO, distilled water or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
