Description: Stabilin-1 is a multifunctional scavenger receptor encoded by the STAB1 gene, primarily expressed on sinusoidal endothelial cells in the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes, as well as on alternatively activated (M2) macrophages. In the context of cancer, Stabilin-1 is expressed on tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and facilitates tumor growth by promoting the silent clearance of extracellular tumor-inhibiting factors like SPARC, thereby modulating the tumor microenvironment.
