Description
Description: The HIV gp120-gp41 interface is a critical region for the virus’s ability to infect host cells. gp120 is responsible for binding to the CD4 receptor on host cells, which triggers conformational changes that expose the gp41 subunit. gp41 facilitates the fusion of the viral membrane with the host cell membrane, allowing the viral RNA to enter the host cell. The interface between gp120 and gp41 is a target for neutralizing antibodies and therapeutic interventions aimed at preventing HIV entry into host cells.
