Description
Description: CD3 is a protein complex that forms part of the T cell receptor (TCR) complex on T lymphocytes. These chains associate with the TCR to facilitate signal transduction upon antigen recognition. CD3 is expressed on all mature T cells, natural killer T (NKT) cells, and certain thymocytes, making it a key marker for identifying T cells. The cytoplasmic tails of CD3 contain immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs), which are crucial for initiating intracellular signaling cascades that lead to T cell activation and proliferation.
