Description: CD56, also known as the neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), is a surface protein that belongs to the Ig superfamily of cell adhesion molecules (CAMs). It plays a crucial role in neurogenesis, neuronal migration, and neurite outgrowth in the nervous system. Additionally, it enhances the sensitivity of cancer cells to NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity, making it a potential target for immunotherapy.
