Description
Description: CD28 is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric type I glycoprotein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. CD28 is expressed on most T lineage cells, as well as on subsets of natural killer (NK) cells and plasma cells. Its primary function is to provide a necessary second signal for T cell activation, alongside the T cell receptor (TCR) engagement with antigen-presenting cells (APCs). This co-stimulation is essential for full T cell activation, proliferation, and survival.
