Frequently Asked Questions
You can submit your sample by filling out the online submission form and shipping 0.5–1 mL of cell culture supernatant to our testing facility.
Once received, testing begins immediately and results are delivered within 48 hours.
We accept:
- Cell culture supernatant
- Cell culture media
- Bioreactor samples
- Cell line samples (HEK293, CHO, primary cells, stem cells, hybridoma, etc.)
If you are unsure, supernatant is usually sufficient for testing.
Standard turnaround time:
- Express Test: Please contact us.
- Standard Test: 48 hours
Turnaround time begins once the sample is received in the lab.
We use a sensitive qPCR-based detection method targeting conserved mycoplasma genomic sequences, allowing fast and reliable detection without the need for cell culture amplification.
Only 0.5–1 mL of cell culture supernatant is required for testing.
“NOT DETECTED” means no mycoplasma DNA was detected above the assay sensitivity threshold at the time of testing.
It does not guarantee permanent sterility, so routine monitoring is recommended.
A positive result indicates that mycoplasma contamination was detected in your sample.
We recommend immediate action, such as:
- Isolating the culture
- Treating with a mycoplasma removal solution
- Retesting after treatment
In many cases, early or low-level contamination can be treated.
We offer a full workflow including detection, quantification (Ct-based), and contamination removal solutions.
Recommended frequency:
- Routine cell culture: every 2–4 weeks
- Cell therapy / GMP workflows: every batch or passage
- After contamination risk events: immediately
