Applications

Induces rapid intracellular acidification

Functions

Polyether ionophore which disrupts membrane potential and stimulates ATPase activity in mitochondria. Induces apoptosis resulting from intracellular acidification. Ion selectivity is K+> Rb+> Cs+>>Na+. Cell permeable.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 50 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 20 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20° for up to 2 months.
