Functions

During SARS coronavirus replication, the replicase polyprotein undergoes proteolytic processing by two viral proteases, a chymotrypsin-like protease (3CLpro) and a papain-like protease (PLpro). Both proteases serve as attractive targets for antiviral therapeutics. GRL-0496 is a potent inhibitor of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus chymotrypsin-like protease (SARS-CoV 3CLpro). IC50 = 30 nM and antiviral EC50 = 6.9 µM.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 30 mg/ml) or Ethanol (up to 25 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
