Applications

Inhibits intracellular transport

Functions

Specific inhibitor of protein translocation from endoplasmic reticulum to Golgi. Blocks secretion and prevents the assembly of non-clathrin-coated buds on Golgi cisternae. Inhibits guanine nucleotide-exchange proteins BIG1 and BIG2, activators of ADP-ribosylation factors. Induces apoptosis independently of p53. Activates sphingomyelin metabolism. Triggers Bip/Akt-regulated autophagy in colorectal cancer cells.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (100 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (25 mg/ml, warm), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
