α4ß2 partial agonist

Functions

Varenicline is a partial agonist of the α4β2 neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (EC₅₀ = 2.3 µM) and a full agonist at α7 neuronal nicotinic receptors. Clinically useful smoking cessation agent.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (18 mg/ml) or water (35 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or water may be stored at -20° for up to 3 months.
