Functions

Tranilast is an anti-allergy agent (inhibition of mast cell degranulation) that has been shown to have potent immunomodulatory effects (via inhibition of endotoxin induced: PGE₂, IC₅₀ = 1-20 µM; TXB₂, IC₅₀ = 10-50 µM; TGFβ1, IC₅₀ = 100-200 µM; IL-8, IC₅₀ = 100 µM). Tranilast also displays anti-angiogenic properties.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 25 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO may be stored at -20°C for up to 2 months.
