Functions

L-Glutamine is an essential supplement for cell culture however it is unstable and degrades to pyroglutamate and ammonia. L-alanyl-L-glutamine (Ala-Gln) is used in cell culture as a widely used alternative delivery form of L-glutamine which has increased stability under cell culture conditions. In addition to increased stability during cell culture, another advantage of using Ala-Gln in place of L-glutamine is that it reduces the level of ammonia generated which is toxic to cells.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in Soluble in DMSO (50 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO may be stored at

-20°C for up to 3 months.
