Functions

An analog of sphingosine which, when taken up into cells, is phosphorylated and acts as an agonist at sphingosine-1-phosphate receptors (S1P1/3).  Potently inhibits regulatory T cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo. Enhances microvascular remodeling via expansion of arterioles and capillary networks. Potent immunomodulatory, down-regulating microglial cell inflammation. Clinically effective agent for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. Stimulates neuronal gene expression, axonal growth and regeneration.

 

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 100 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 40 mg/ml with warming), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20° for up to 3 months.
