Functions

Disopyramide is a clinically useful sodium channel blocker used as an antiarrhythmic for treatment of ventricular tachycardia and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  It decreases the rate of diastolic depolarization, decreases the upstroke velocity and increases the action potential duration of normal cardiac cells. It decreases the disparity between infarcted and normal myocardium refractory periods.  Disopyramide has no effect on α or β-adrenergic receptors but does display significant anticholinergic effects.

 

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to at least 25 mg/ml) or in ethanol (up to at least 35 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
