Functions

Disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD). Potent inhibitor of selenoenzyme thioredoxin reductase and IκB kinase (IKK) by modifying Cys-179. Auranofin is an efficient inducer of mitochondrial membrane permeability transition pore in the presence of calcium ions.

 

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 5 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 4 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20° for up to 2 months.
