Description

H-D-Phe-Pip-Arg-pNA hydrochloride is a synthetic chromogenic substrate designed to mimic the N-terminal sequence of the Aα chain of fibrinogen, the natural substrate of thrombin. This substrate is highly specific for thrombin and is widely utilized in coagulation studies to measure thrombin activity and antithrombin III (AT-III) function. Upon cleavage by thrombin, H-D-Phe-Pip-Arg-pNA hydrochloride releases p-nitroaniline (pNA), a chromophore that can be quantitatively detected by its absorbance at 405 nm, providing a reliable and sensitive method for assessing thrombin activity.
