Functions

Monoterpene natural product first isolated from the western red cedar, identified as a metal chelator and ionophore with activity against microbial growth. Inhibits mushroom tyrosinase (IC50 diphonolase activity = 0.21 μM) and platelet 12-lipoxygenase (IC50 = 100 nM). Protects against prion-induced neurotoxicity by inducing autophagy via HIF-1α activation. Causes G1 arrest, autophagy, and EGF-induced migration in HeLa cells.

 

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 25 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 25 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20° for up to 4 months.
