Acyl-CoA carboxylase inhibitor

Functions

TOFA (54857-86-2) interferes with fatty acid synthase via inhibition of acetyl Co-A carboxylase (ACC1) IC₅₀ = 270 nM (for acetate incorporation). Induces apoptosis in a variety of tumor cell lines. Stimulates neurite outgrowth and neuronal differentiation in rat pheochromocytoma cells. TOFA impairs glucose-stimulated insulin secretion after chronic treatment. Suppresses the growth of ovarian cancer cells in vitro and in vivo.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to 15 mg/ml), or in Ethanol (up to 9 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO or ethanol may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
