XTT solution

XTT solution

TribioScience’s XTT Cell Viability Assay Kit offers a ready-to-use liquid form of the XTT reagent, streamlining the process of assessing cell viability. This colorimetric assay relies on the reduction of the yellow tetrazolium salt (XTT) to an orange formazan dye by mitochondrial oxidoreductases present only in living cells. The resulting formazan is soluble in the culture medium, allowing direct quantification by measuring absorbance at 450 nm without the need for additional solubilization steps. This simplifies the workflow and enhances throughput in various cell-based assays.

The kit’s design emphasizes ease of use and safety. It includes pre-measured XTT Reagent and an Activator, which are mixed in a 1:50 ratio to prepare the working solution. After adding 50 µL of this solution to each well containing cells, the plate is incubated at 37°C for 2–4 hours. The intensity of the orange color correlates with the number of viable cells, providing accurate and reproducible results. The assay is non-radioactive and does not require washing or cell transfer steps, making it suitable for high-throughput applications.

TribioScience’s XTT Cell Viability Assay Kit is versatile, supporting applications such as measuring cell proliferation, evaluating cytotoxicity, and testing drug efficacy. It is particularly useful for analyzing the effects of growth factors, cytokines, and various pharmacological agents on cell health. The kit is available in sizes suitable for 500 or 1000 assays, with components stored at -20°C and a shelf-life of 12 months. This ready-to-use format facilitates efficient and reliable assessment of cell viability in research settings.
