Applications

Antifungal/Prevents cancer stem cell formation

 

Functions

Broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal used for the treatment of various skin infections.  It inhibits the cytochrome P450 isozyme, C-14-alpha demethylase, preventing ergosterol synthesis. Sulconazole inhibited mammosphere formation, reduced NF-kB, and reduced extracellular IL-8 formation in breast cancer cells leading to inhibition of cancer stem cell formation. It has a similar effect on glioma stem cells.

 

Application Procedures

First dissolved in DMSO (up to at least 25 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in DMSO may be stored at -20°C for up to 1 month.
