Functions
Geranylgeraniol as its pyrophosphate is the precursor to the diterpene family of natural products. It is a precursor to geranylgeranoic acid via oxidation1. Small GTPases such as Rac and Rho are geranylgeranylated which ensures proper subcellular localization via anchoring to cellular membranes2. Occurs in numerous bioactive plant essential oils3.
Application Procedures
First dissolved in DMSO (up to 30 mg/ml) or in Ethanol (up to 25 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer.
