Functions
Clinically useful iron chelator. Attenuates blood-brain-barrier breakdown and brain mitochondrial dysfunction in rats with chronic iron-overload. Iron chelation therapy has been suggested as a possible therapy for Alzheimers Disease.
Application Procedures
First dissolved in water (up to 5 mg/ml with warming), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions are not stable and must be prepared fresh daily.
