DMEM/F12 with HEPES Buffer is a versatile cell culture medium formulated as a 1:1 mixture of Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium (DMEM) and Ham’s Nutrient Mixture F-12. It combines the high levels of amino acids, vitamins, and glucose found in DMEM with additional nutrients from Ham’s F-12, including HEPES, sodium pyruvate, glutamine, and glucose.

This balanced formulation provides a nutrient-rich environment to support the growth and maintenance of a wide range of mammalian cell types. DMEM/F12 with HEPES Buffer is commonly used for cultured MDCK cells, glial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, human epithelial cells, and lung cells.

DMEM/F12 with HEPES Buffer is supplied in convenient 500 mL and should be stored at 2–8°C in the dark until use. The medium has a typical pH of 7.4 ± 0.3, making it suitable for routine cell culture applications where consistent nutritional support and buffering capacity are required.
